I have taken a temporary break from blogging. As a result of which, I am getting penalized by Google which was my main source of traffic. Because of inactivity, my PR dropped from 3 to 2. Also, Google would return 2000+ search results when sparkz9.com was searched and now, it returns only around 900 results.
This break is hampering my blog traffic and these days, I get major traffic from one of my posts titled: Making money with proxy sites. I’m sure that this is just a temporary phase and I will soon be back with more making money tips.
My blog Sparkz9.com was started in September 2007. It is completing one year this September. I have enjoyed a great journey of blogging, though I did not make too many posts.
As of now, I have taken a break from blogging. This is because it is difficult for me to cope up with academics, my projects and few other activities. So far, it has been a great time blogging and interacting with my loyal readers, and in the entire past year, I have learned a lot more things about blogging, making money online, SEO and more.
What I can assure is, this break is not permanent. I will be back with more blogging tips, money making strategies, SEO, etc. soon; certainly before the end of this year. Meanwhile, you can subscribe to my RSS feed and bookmark my site.
PageRank is one of the most important parameters considered when it comes to money making online. Better the PR, better is the scope of making money. In my last post, I had mentioned some tips on achieving a non zero PR. New bloggers must be annoyed by the fact that they have still not received a PR, but do not worry, you will receive a PR eventually if you keep building back links.
I was surprised this morning the moment I checked my Google PageRank. I saw it had increased to 3 from 2. A search engine observer informed me that Google has done a PR update, so I just had a look at my PR. I had a reason to smile then……
:-)
I had received my first PR of 2 four months after starting my blog. Three months later, I received a PR of 3. Some SEO pros had told me Google updates PR records every three months. Its not three months exactly….. but around three months.
The secret is to keep building links if you want a good PR for your site!
PageRank (or PR) is a Google trademark. Google ranks every page indexed in its database. But all the newbies, start from ZERO. That is, if a page is newly indexed in Google, it would have a PageRank of ZERO or rather, N/A would be displayed when you try to check your PR.
If you don’t care about making money online, you should be the last person to give a thought to your PR. Otherwise, if you are a `making money online’ enthusiast, PageRank is one of the most important parameters of your site. PR is entirely based upon the backlinks to your site. Precisely, it depends upon the PR of the pages linking to you and the number of ‘Out bound links’ on the pages linking to you. You can find the detailed PR algorithm at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank.
I received a PR of 2 within 4 months. A non zero PR is a definite plus when it comes to selling links and writing reviews. Also, this will help you in your SEO practices. Following are the simple steps you need to follow:
-> Submit to as many directories as possible.
-> Submit to social bookmarking sites.
-> Buy some high PR links at tnx.net (Cheapest links are available over there)
-> Submit a press release at PRweb.com (This would give you a backlink of at least PR3)
Within a maximum of 4 months, you will achieve a non zero PageRank.
Before getting strated with sparkz9.com, I used to blog on blogspot blogs. Actually, I felt it very comfortable. Almost all of my posts were indexed in Google within 24 hours. I was surprised by this fact. It was so damn fast, the moment I post, I was sure of finding some new readers for my blog. If the keyword competition was less, my posts were used to get indexed in the firs 2 result’s page. I never used to spend time on promotion. That time, I used to think my content is unique and very good. That inspired me to go for a domain name and professional hosting. Is was not the same case over here. My posts were not indexed as quickly as they were done while using blogger. I struggled a bit, but now I’m comfortable with my sparkz9.com wordpress blog.
The reasons I could figure out why blogger posts were getting indexed in Google is: Blogger.com is Google’s family member and also, Blogger.com has a pagerank of 8. So, those of you who have a dream of becoming a blogger, get yourself a blog at blogger.com and start posting about the topics you love!
Proxy sites are the sites which allow users to browse the internet anonymously. Anonymizing is just one reason why people use proxies. Nowadays, in schools, colleges, offices, many social networking websites like Orkut, Bebo, Myspace are banned. These proxy sites are used to bypass this blocks. Hence proxies are in a great demand. Many searches like Myspace proxies, Myspace unblocker, etc. are made on search engines these days.
Proxy scripts are mostly coded in PHP; so they are called PHP proxies and freely available on the internet. One of the popular places where you can find is script is: http://www.glype.com and http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-proxy
To monitor proxy sites, there are proxy topsites. These are as good as web-proxy search engines. Submitting a proxy site to around 50 topsites will send you around 300-400 unique visitors. Just imagine what would happen if you had Adsense code on your homepage.
If you would like to own a proxy, you have to purchase a hosting package. I would recommend you going for http://www.techentrance.com/ as they provide hosting specially for proxies. Then you have to download a proxy script, install it on your server, and you have a proxy site running.
As far as the money making part is concerned, just add your adsense code on the homepage and a CPM based code on proxified pages.
Creating good unique content will obviously drive visitors to your site from search engines. But, you need to optimize your website/blog in such a way that search engine spiders do not have any problems crawling to your site. As discussed earlier, to get your website on top of search engines, you have to follow search engine optimization procedure like link building and so. Your blog/website needs to be optimized internally also, that is, it should be search engine friendly.
I’ve used a plug-in called All In One SEO Pack which works great for SEOing. To download it, CLICK HERE. This plugin will automatically generate META tags for each of your posts. META tags on a web page are specially used for the purpose of search engines. Most of the search engines, even Google, first reads your META tags(META description atleast) . It also optimizes titles, avoids duplicate content, and much more. It does everything right to make your blog search engine friendly. And you will notice that your pages will be indexed in Google faster.
If you want, you will be able to put custom page title, keywords, description for every post you make as this feature will be provided by the plugin.
The customization options will look like:

Alexa rank can speak for your website. A good Alexa rank is a definite plus. It is normally referred to as traffic rank. Some of the webmasters have scrapped it because it does not include all. Alexa logs visitor information about a website of only those visitors using the Alexa toolbar. The Alexa toolbar is available to most of the widely used browsers. Whenever a website is visited through a browser containing an Alexa toolbar, it displays traffic information about the website and also sends information to Alexa about the site and the visitor.
Your Alexa rank will come into picture when you are selling links or ad positions or reviews. Advertisers will prefer only those websites with a good Alexa rank.
There are two main ways of improving your Alexa rank:
- Encourage your users to download and install the Alexa Toolbar. Use Alexa redirecting URL instead of your main URL.
- The Alexa redirection URL looks like this: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?YOURSITE.COM
